Terms & Conditions

Enquiries and planning sessions

Sending an enquiry is the start of a conversation, not a guaranteed booking.

Planning sessions are free and never require a deposit. They're simply a chance to discuss your idea, placement and sizing face to face before an appointment is booked.

Where reasonably, your enquiry may be shared within Onyx Tattoo Studio. Personal information is handled in accordance with the studio's privacy practices.

Booking, deposits and payment

A £100 deposit secures your appointment, or £50 for smaller sessions. Your deposit needs to be received within 48 hours of your appointment being offered. After that, the appointment may be released and become available to others.

The remaining balance is due on the day of your appointment.

If you cancel more than 72 hours before your appointment, your deposit will be refunded in full. If you cancel within 72 hours of your appointment, your deposit will be forfeited.

Rescheduling your existing appointment is no trouble, and your deposit will normally carry forward to the new date. However, if you've made a substantial change to the agreed design or placement and this means the original appointment can no longer go ahead as planned, the existing deposit may not be transferable.

Before your tattoo begins, you'll also need to complete a consent and medical history form.

If you're paying with Bitcoin or Ethereum, the amount due will be calculated using the GBP exchange rate at the time payment is made, rather than the rate at the time of booking.

If you're paying via Klarna, please arrange payment at least three days before your appointment to allow enough time for it to clear.

Changes to your design or placement

Your quote and the amount of time reserved for your appointment are based on the design, placement and approximate sizing we've agreed beforehand.

Changes can affect both the price and the amount of time needed, and in some cases the original appointment may no longer be suitable.

We always do our best to accommodate changes where we can. If a substantial change means a new appointment is required, your existing deposit may not be transferable.

If you need to cancel or reschedule

Plans change, and that's understood.

If you need to cancel, please give as much notice as possible. Cancellations made more than 72 hours before your appointment receive a full refund of the deposit. Cancellations within 72 hours of the appointment will result in the deposit being forfeited.

If you'd simply like to move your existing appointment, your deposit will normally carry forward to the new date, subject to the design and placement terms above.

If I need to cancel or reschedule

On rare occasions, I may need to cancel or reschedule an appointment myself, for example because of illness or an emergency. If that happens, I'll let you know as soon as I reasonably can and do everything possible to offer you a suitable alternative date.

If I need to reschedule your appointment, your deposit can either be transferred in full to the new date or refunded in full if the alternative date doesn't work for you.

If I need to cancel your appointment altogether, your deposit will always be refunded in full.

These circumstances are separate from the cancellation terms that apply when you need to change or cancel your own booking.

Gift vouchers

Gift vouchers are valid until the expiry date shown on the voucher, typically six months from the date of issue unless a different period is stated.

Please make sure your appointment is booked, or your required deposit has been paid, before the voucher expires. Once a voucher has expired, it can no longer be redeemed.

A gift voucher is credit towards the cost of a tattoo booked at KM Realism and redeemed in person at the studio. It isn't a cash payment and can't be exchanged, refunded or redeemed for cash, in part or in full.

Vouchers are intended for the named recipient and are generally non-transferable. If your circumstances have changed or you'd like to discuss transferring a voucher to somebody else, please get in touch before making a booking.

Please keep your voucher code secure. If a voucher or code is lost, stolen or you believe it has been used without your permission, let me know as soon as possible so we can look into it.

Booking with a voucher is still subject to the same booking, deposit, cancellation and consent terms as any other appointment. The voucher simply contributes towards the final cost of your tattoo.

Consent and health information

Before any tattoo appointment, you'll be asked to complete a short consent and medical history form. This covers allergies, relevant health conditions or medications, and confirms that you understand the potential risks associated with tattooing, including infection, allergic reaction and scarring.

If I believe there is a health or safety concern that could make tattooing inappropriate on the day, I may need to decline or postpone the appointment.

The purpose of this information is to help make sure your tattoo can be carried out as safely as possible.

Reference images and artwork

Any reference images you provide are used in connection with your enquiry and the planning and preparation of your tattoo.

Reference material is there to help communicate the direction, details and overall feel you're looking for. Your finished tattoo will be created as original artwork rather than as a direct copy of another artist's work.

Photography and social media

I may ask for your permission to photograph or film the finished tattoo for my portfolio, website or social media.

You're always free to say no. Declining photography or publication won't affect your appointment or the service you receive.

Right to decline a project

I reserve the right to decline a project, including after a planning session, if I don't believe I'm the right artist for the work, if the project falls outside my style or approach, or if there is a health, safety or other legitimate concern that means I don't believe the tattoo should go ahead.

Where appropriate, I may suggest another artist at Onyx Tattoo Studio who I believe would be better suited to the project.

Changes to these terms

These terms may occasionally be updated as the way I work or the studio operates evolves.

The version of these terms in place when your appointment is booked will apply to that booking.
